Idaho’s first wolf hunt is set for September, and Idaho hunters will have fewer deer and elk permits available for fall hunts.
Idaho Fish and Game Commissioners on Tuesday set big game and wolf seasons in anticipation of the animals being removed from federal protection.
The wolf seasons will run from Sept. 15 through Dec. 31. Commissioners will set harvest quotas in August.
Other big game season changes include capping elk tags in two elk zones, including the Sawtooth Zone; reduced hunting for white-tail deer in northern Idaho and mule deer in southern Idaho.
F&G also eliminated general archery hunts for pronghorn and replaced them with unlimited controlled hunts.
