The Idaho Department of Fish and Game has scheduled two public open houses in Southwest Idaho to get comments on proposed seasons and rules for Idaho's first-ever wolf hunting season.
- McCall: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, at F&G regional office at 555 Deinhard Lane.
- Nampa: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 15, at F&G regional office at 3101 S. Powerline Road.
Recommended seasons and rules are available on the F&G Website at: fishandgame.idaho.gov/cms/public/.
Hunters will find four alternatives for season dates, and proposed harvest quotas for each wolf management zone. F&G's management plan calls for maintaining wolves at a population level between 500-700 wolves for the first five years following delisting from the Endangered Species list, which happened in March.
Details for the fall 2008 hunting season are scheduled to be set by the commission at the May 21-22 meeting and brochures should be out to the public in July.
For information about the meetings or to comment call the Nampa office at (208) 465-8465 or the McCall office or the McCall office at (208) 634-8137.
Comments may be submitted on the Website, at the scheduled meetings, or by mail to Jeff Rohlman at Fish and Game, 555 Deinhard Lane McCall, ID, 83638; or to Jon Rachael at Fish and Game, 3101 S. Powerline Road, Nampa, ID, 83686. The deadline for submitting comments is the close of business on May 16.
