Historic Northeast Oregon Mining: Meet at the WinCo parking lot on Meridian Road at 7:30 a.m. for an 8 a.m. departure. Retired Oregon State geologist Mark Ferns will lead the tour. Visit the restored Sumpter Dredge, then loop through Granite to Greenhorn and then down the Burnt River. Dress for the weather; bring lunch and water. 4 Summit Challenge: 7:30 a.m. in Cascade. Cyclist will begin on the Warm Lake Road and may traverse Big Creek Summit and then continue along the South Fork of the Salmon River roadway. Cyclist can choose the distance; total route is approximately 82 miles. Email email@example.com.

Sawtooth Salmon Festival: Kicks off at 5 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Stanley Community Center, Highway 21, with a presentation by Outdoor Idaho and Idaho Public Television’s host Bruce Reichert. Continues Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. at the Stanley Museum, with free shuttle tours throughout the day to view wild salmon spawning; educational booths; salmon experts; food and drink; and a salmon dinner with music ($40 general, $30 for SIHA or IRU members).
