Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge invites wildlife-lovers to celebrate National Public Lands Day by volunteering to improve the refuge for wildlife and visitors.
From 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 27, families, friends, school and work groups, clubs, churches and individuals are invited to get outdoors and give back to their public lands.
Volunteers will meet at the Refuge Visitor Center at 9 a.m. and are advised to bring gloves and a water bottle and wear closed-toe shoes and work clothes they can get dirty while working outside. Light refreshments will be provided.
The Refuge Visitor Center entrance is located northwest of Nampa at Indiana and Roosevelt avenues.
