As a former trustee of the Meridian School District (now West Ada), I am keenly aware of how an effective board should function. The dysfunctionality of four recent members who felt it necessary to micromanage the administration, hire costly unnecessary legal counsel, and conduct meetings behind closed doors has caused our community to seek their removal. Two have resigned, but the other two must be recalled on May 17. I applaud the Meridian Chamber of Commerce for supporting this recall, recognizing that these difficulties are affecting not only our children, but our property values and the vibrancy of our business community.
