Thank you, Mike Simpson, for Boulder-White Clouds wilderness.
Mike Simpson has worked for over 15 years on legislation to protect the Boulder-White Clouds, which, like the Sawtooth Wilderness and the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, epitomize one of Idaho’s special places: pristine mountain landscapes, clean water, wildlife habitat and special recreational opportunities.
As a former Blaine County commissioner (2001-2008) who worked on this legislation, I am glad that Congress acted and that the new wilderness has the support of our congressional leaders, conservation groups, recreation advocates and the two counties (Blaine and Custer) in which the new wilderness will be created. Three new wilderness will total 275,665 acres.
Congressman Simpson worked hard to address the needs of the public who recreate in this area, the ranchers who have spent generations on the land, and the communities which will be most impacted. Compromise is not always easy, not everyone is always happy, but with the Boulder-White Clouds act, I believe that all Idahoans will benefit now and for future generations.
Thank you, Congressman Simpson.
