I keep a list of the Friday closing price of crude oil and the price of gas at the pump. On Jan. 9, crude oil closed at $48.36 a barrel and we were paying $2.05 a gallon at the pump. On Friday, July 24, crude oil closed at $48.14 and gas dropped a whole 2 cents to $3.07 a gallon on Saturday (7 cents was the gas tax added July 1) . Since Jan. 9, crude is down a few cents a barrel and we are paying $1.02 a gallon more at the pump. Seems like someone’s profit margin is up a bit and, as usual, we are paying for it. Maybe the attorney general should take a look.
