Another one. Another gun, another shooter, another school. I understand we have the right to keep and bear arms, but I think we have lost our privilege. I am a student at Boise State University, and what happened at Umpqua Community College is my worst nightmare.
Since Sandy Hook, I have gone to class every day thinking is this going to be the day my world comes crashing down on me? Since Aurora, Colo., I have gone to the movies thinking is this the movie I will never get to finish?
How can we function if we fear? How can we live if we don’t act?
I know hunting is fun, and shooting is great — but death is neither. No law will ever be perfect. If someone is bound and determined to get a gun, they will; but can we at least make it harder for them? I’m tired of this happening, and I hope you are, too. Please help me implore our government to change things.
Never miss a local story.
My thoughts and prayers are with the families that have been affected by the Umpqua shooting.
