Ms. Cecilia Seesholtz (the Boise National Forest supervisor) will be accepting public comments on the proposed Becker timber sale until Nov. 2. The draft Environmental Impact Statement is available online or hard copy by calling 208-373-4100. The sale will log 6.8 square miles, with 28 percent of the logging planned to occur in Riparian Conservation Areas adjacent to sensitive streams. About 0.6 miles of road will also be constructed close to the streams.
The timber sale will be located in the Middle Crooked River watershed in the Idaho City Ranger District.
Please be sure to comment on the Forest Plan amendment being proposed with this timber sale. The amendment will weaken the visual quality objectives for areas that can be seen from Idaho 21.
