Recently, on the front page, we were to celebrate a 91K, one-block bike lane. I’m thrilled that Boise is attempting to embrace bicycle traffic; however, one block doesn’t do much good. We recently returned from Vancouver, BC, Canada. They truly espouse the meaning of bicycle lanes. I would encourage the powers that be to take a detour to Vancouver to study, witness and experience true bike lanes. They have barriers between cars and bikes, painted lanes, lots of signage, and even bicycle stop lights. I’d like to see Boise and the surrounding areas do more for the sake of encouraging safe bicycle traffic.
