Do you need donations of time, money or other assistance to help make the holidays brighter for Treasure Valley families and others in need? Throughout the holiday season, we will highlight some of the projects that local groups are working on. Please tell us about your group's efforts for our annual "Needs of the Season" list, which also will be an ongoing feature in Anna Webb's blog, "Helping Works" at IdahoStatesman.com beginning this week.
E-mail information, including relevant dates, addresses, contact numbers and specifics about how people can help, to newsroom@idahostatesman.com. Please put "Needs of the Season" in the e-mail subject line.
The folks at the Boise Bicycle Project plan to give 100-150 bikes to local kids in need this Christmas. They've fixed up about 75 "little bikes," but there's lots of work to do.
The Christmas wish list for donations includes:
® Training wheels and seats for Christmas bikes
® Metal roofing and tarps to cover bikes outside
® Wooden 2x4s
® Toner cartridges for HP LaserJet CP1515n
® Heavy duty wall hooks
® New members
And starting in December, the project especially needs volunteers from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays. Just show up ready to help; no experience is necessary.

Empty Bowls takes place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday or while supplies last. Bowl prices start at $10. The booth will be in Downtown Boise next to the Grove Plaza.

WHY NOT HOST YOUR OWN PAJAMA PARTY?
Valley residents soon will be gathering for office parties, cocktail parties, family get-togethers and other celebrations. Why not integrate a pajama/book drive into the festivities to benefit the local Pajama Program? The program provides new, warm pajamas and a new book to local kids in need, including those living in shelters and group homes. For information, visit www.pajamaprogram.org.
