Eric Shink, age 40, of Kennewick, Wash. was headed east on Interstate 84 just after 6 p.m. Monday when he took the offramp just east of the Oregon state line near Fruitland. Shink's motorcycle struck a guard rail and he was thrown from the bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Although Shink was wearing a helmet, Idaho State Police said alcohol and speed played a role in the crash.
Earlier Monday, Richard Schroeder, 63, of Halfway Ore., was driving south on Idaho 55 near Banks when he failed to make a curve, was thrown from his motorcycle down a 30-foot embankment and into the Payette River. Schroeder was declared dead at the scene, ISP said. Schroeder was wearing his helmet and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, officials said.
Both crashes are under investigation.
