The Minnesota Vikings released former Boise State tailback Ian Johnson and wide receiver Vinny Perretta on Saturday, the day NFL teams had to make their final cuts. Johnson and Perretta signed with the Vikings as undrafted free agents last spring. Both still could be picked up by another team or added to the Vikings practice squad Sunday. The Vikings told Johnson they intended to sign him to the practice squad, according to On the Fringe, an NFL.com blog that followed Johnson and four other players who were on the roster bubble. Perretta said the Vikings told him that he was one of nine players being considered for eight spots on the practice squad.
FORMER BURN PLAYER MAKES IT
Former Boise Burn offensive lineman Kyle DeVan was not among 18 players released by the Colts on Saturday, making him the first player to advance from Boise to an NFL roster. DeVan opened the 2009 season as the starting center for the Burn.
