Jordan Michael Peterson, 24, who allegedly fled the scene of a crash on Idaho 44 and Linder Road Sunday afternoon, was arrested on hit-and-run charges after police located him more than an hour after the crash.
The crash occurred at about 5 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses told police that the driver of a BMW had hit a GMC Envoy. The driver of the BMW fled the scene on foot; one of the witnesses chased him for a short time.
The damage to the vehicles was minor. The driver of the GMC Envoy did not have any serious injuries, but she was taken to an Eagle hospital as a precaution and released within an hour.
Ada County sheriff's deputies investigating the scene found what they believed were the BMW driver's flip-flops, but did not immediately find him.
At 6 p.m., police received a tip from a passing motorist that the driver of the BMW was seen hitching a ride with a truck. The truck was located, and Peterson was found in the vehicle.
Police say Peterson admitted he fled the crash, and he had the keys to the BMW in his pocket. Peterson had borrowed the BMW from a friend.
Peterson was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident involving injury to another vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.
