The Idaho Fish and Game Commission on Wednesday opened a chinook season in the Boise River. F&G expects to start stocking fish on Thursday.
The large return of chinook jacks to Idaho’s hatcheries this year allows F&G to move some of those fish to the Boise River.
Salmon fishing is open downstream of Barber Dam and runs 24 hours a day until Sept. 6 or further notice. The daily limit is two salmon – regardless of size – and the possession limit is six salmon. Adult and jack salmon must be recorded on the angler’s permit.
