Jared Zabransky is back as a professional quarterback.
The former BSU star, who flirted with roster spots in the NFL, landed a job as the No. 3 quarterback with the Edmonton Eskimos on Thursday, which was roster cut-down day in the Canadian Football League.
Edmonton's other quarterbacks are Jason Maas (Oregon) and Ricky Ray (Sacramento State).
Seven other players with Idaho ties made rosters Thursday.
Former Boise State wide receiver Drisan James is with the Hamilton Tiger Cats, while ex-Bronco lineman Andrew Woodruff made the Montreal Alouettes. Jon Gott, a former BSU lineman, is on the practice roster of the Calgary Stampeders.
Former Idaho fullback Rolly Lumbala (British Columbia Lions) and defensive back J.R. Ruffin (Calgary) made teams. Running back Cedric Thompson was cut by Calgary.
Former Idaho State player Eddie Johnson is on the Toronto Argonauts' roster as a kicker/punter.
Cody Pickett, a Caldwell High graduate, is the backup quarterback for the Argonauts.
The season starts July 1.
