ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Who’s interviewing for the judge job?

The council will interview applicants in alphabetical order - for half-hour increments starting at 10 a.m.:

Virginia A. Bond, former Canyon County chief criminal deputy prosecutor, now in private practice.

Bradly S. Ford, a 3rd District magistrate judge in Caldwell.

Cynthia A. Jordan, associate judge for the Coeur d'Alene Tribal Court in Spokane.

John C. Keenan, Idaho deputy attorney general.

After a lunch break, the interviews will continue at 12:45 p.m.:

James F. Kile, commissioner for the Idaho Industrial Commission.

Theodore W. Lagerwall, special prosecutor for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, Chicago.

George Southworth, a 3rd District magistrate judge in Caldwell.

Darin Taylor, an attorney in private practice in Middleton.

Two Canyon County magistrate judges, four Treasure Valley lawyers and two applicants from other states are vying to become the 3rd Judicial District's newest judge, and interested residents can sit in on the interview process Wednesday.

Interviews begin at 10 a.m. in Courtroom 3 on the third floor of the Canyon County Courthouse, 115 Albany St., Caldwell.

After all the interviews are concluded, the Idaho Judicial Council will discuss the applicants and decide which names - at least two and as many as four - will be forwarded to Gov. Butch Otter, Judicial Council Executive Director Robert G. Hamlin said.

The council's recommendations will likely be sent to Otter on Thursday, but there is no set date for the governor's decision. The selected judge will replace Gordon Petrie, who resigned Jan. 30 after two and a half years as a 3rd District judge.

Hamlin encourages area residents to attend the interviews and learn about the process. District judges make a wealth of weighty decisions that affect local lives, he said, so their selection is very important.
