ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

GET LISTED IN "NEEDS OF THE SEASON"

If your organization needs donations (of items, volunteers, expertise, etc.), to help people in need through the holidays, e-mail awebb@idahostatesman.com with "Needs of the Season" in the subject line. In the body of the e-mail, provide the organization name, address, phone number and Web site; what you need; the population you serve; how people can donate; and a deadline, if applicable. Please make sure the information you send is correct.

As the holidays approach, local organizations are asking for your help to brighten the season for neighbors in need.

YEAR-ROUND PROJECTS NEED HOLIDAY HELP

The good thing about these projects is that they don't end when that last holiday turkey gets given away. You can help them out all year:

United Way of Treasure Valley volunteers: If it's time you want to give this season, United Way of Treasure Valley's online Volunteer Center can connect you with community projects that fit your time and talents. Log on to www.unitedwaytv.org, click "Get Involved"; or call or write Neva Geisler: ngeisler@ unitedwaytv.org, 336-1070, Ext. 122.

Terry Reilly Health Services: The organization's counseling and SANE SOLUTIONS to Physical and Sexual Abuse programs need art supplies to be used in therapy (glue, glitter, construction paper, copy paper, markers, etc.), reading books and new coloring books for the waiting rooms, infant/toddler books to give to new parents to introduce them to reading with their children, toys to be used during counseling sessions (dress-up clothes, animals, doctor kits, basic board games like checkers), a new DVD/VCR player and a new TV to share educational videos during counseling sessions.

Contact Heidi Hart at 345-1170 or drop donations at 408 Allumbaugh, Boise. For more: www.trhs.org.

A FOOD DRIVE SUCCESS

Fred Meyer's recent holiday food drive to benefit the Boise Rescue Mission brought in 1,187 pounds of canned food - an increase of 283 pounds over last year.

Shoppers filled collection bins at Fred Meyer stores, which the mission will distribute to guests during the season.

For more information, call 343-2389.
