Despite slump, large developments planned in the Valley

Local governments have scheduled public hearings this fall on many projects.

This fall, more than a dozen public hearings are slated for large-scale residential or mixed-use developments.

This is your chance to have a say on the future of your community.

And for those of you keeping track, these proposed developments account for 19,331 homes on 7,379 acres around Ada County.

ADA COUNTY

All Ada County public hearings take place in the main floor hearing room, Ada County Courthouse, 200 W. Front. St., Downtown Boise.

Vista

3,113 homes, town center and commercial development on 1,048 acres one mile south of Kuna-Mora Road, west of S. Cole Road.

Sept 10: Ada County Commissioners public hearing, 6 p.m. Ada County Planning Commission recommended approval on July 17.

Dry Creek

4,300 homes and commercial development on 1,414 acres east of Idaho 55 along Dry Creek Road and Brookside Lane.

Sept. 24: Ada County Commissioners public hearing, 6 p.m. A tie vote by the Planning Commission on June 19 forced an automatic denial recommendation.

Shadow Valley

102 homes and existing golf course on 600 acres off Idaho 55 at Shadow Valley golf course.

Sept. 25 (tentative): Ada County Planning Commission public hearing, 6 p.m.

Castellina

214 homes plus commercial development on 20 acres north of State Street between Bogart Lane and Roe Street.

Oct. 9 (tentative): Ada County Planning Commission public hearing, 6 p.m.

Wildwing Village

439 homes, four tech/industrial lots, one elementary school, four community park lots on 127 acres on Floating Feather Road west of N. Lanewood Road.

Oct. 9 (tentative): Ada County Planning Commission public hearing, 6 p.m.

Arbor Hills

6,700 homes plus commercial development on 2,291 acres west and east of S. Pleasant Valley Road between Hollilynn Drive and Tenmile Creek Road.

Oct. 22: Ada County Commissioners public hearing, 6 p.m. The Planning Commission recommended approval on Aug. 28.

Hartley

937 homes plus commercial development on 367 acres north of Beacon Light Road, east of Hartley Road.

Dec. 18: Ada County Planning Commission public hearing, 6 p.m.

BOISE

Aase's Canyon

154 homes on 333 acres to be annexed north of Hill Road between Collister Drive and Plano Lane.

November: Boise City Council will schedule a hearing. Boise Planning Commission on Aug. 11 recommended denial of the development and recommended approval of annexing the land.

EAGLE

Terra View

287 acres to be annexed at the northeast corner of Beacon Light Road and Idaho 16. Number of homes undetermined.

Oct. 14: Eagle City Council annexation hearing, 7:30 p.m., Eagle City Hall, 660 E. Civic Lane.

KUNA

The Vineyards

1,499 homes on 242 acres to be annexed on the west side of Kuna Meridian Road south of Columbia Road across from Criterion Orchards (see below).

Oct. 14: Kuna Planning and Zoning Commission public hearing, 7 p.m., Kuna City Hall, 763 W. Avalon St.

Criterion Orchards

About 1,500 homes on approximately 240 acres to be annexed on the east side of Kuna Meridian Road south of Columbia Road across from The Vineyards (see above).

Kuna Planning and Zoning Commission will schedule a public hearing before December.

MERIDIAN

Cavanaugh Ridge

255 homes on 92 acres at 4275 S. Locust Grove Rd.

Oct. 2: Meridian Planning and Zoning Commission public hearing, 7 p.m. City Hall, 33 East Idaho Ave.

Oakcreek

118 homes on 318 acres to be annexed at the southeast corner of McMillan and Black Cat roads.

Oct. 7: Meridian City Council public hearing, 7 p.m. City Hall, 33 East Idaho Ave.
