Ski fans, get your wax out! Or maybe not. With the rain in Boise on Friday, it’s snowing at Bogus Basin Ski Resort.
Check out the Bogus webcam, and you can see flurries in the air and a dusting on the ground. According to the National Weather Service, this first snow is right on target. Bogus typically gets its first dusting around Halloween or early in November. You might see snow up there for most of the day and by Monday you’ll see more above 5,000 feet.
Bogus plans to start making snow by Sunday, says John Hart, marketing director for the resort. The first things to get blanketed with snow are the tubing hill and beginner slopes.
Oct. 28 is the average first hard freeze date for Boise, and we’re a little behind on winter weather, according to the National Weather Service. But never fear, things will get colder as November progresses.
Never miss a local story.
Still, it’s enough to get you excited for the season, and the Bogus Basin Ski Education Foundation Benefit Ski Swap next weekend.
