House Speaker Paul Ryan traveled to Boise on Tuesday to attend a GOP fundraiser.
Ryan’s appearance — his first official visit to Idaho — was presented by Team Ryan, a joint fundraising committee that includes Ryan for Congress; Ryan’s PAC, Prosperity for Action; and the National Republican Congressional Committee. Tickets to the event ranged from $1,000 to $10,000.
Media were not allowed to attend the event, which was held in the Eighth & Main building in Downtown Boise.
About 40 protesters chanting and carrying signs gathered outside the building while the event was taking place.
“We are really fighting the agenda of the Trump administration and one that is bolstered and supported by Speaker Ryan,” said United Vision for Idaho Director Adrienne Evans. “It was very important today that we send a message to Speaker Ryan, and to this administration, that your platform of bigotry, hate, discrimination and undermining people will not be tolerated here in Idaho or anywhere else.”
