Outgoing Republican Idaho Secretary of State Ben Ysursa has faced pressure to endorse primarily from Democrat Holli Woodings but also early from staff of Republican Lawerence Denney.
So today’s posting on Idaho Conservation League Executive Director Rick Johnson’s Facebook page will be very interesting to Idaho voters who have respected Ysursa’s non-partisan management of his office and state elections.
Johnson wrote: “I just walked by the Idaho Statehouse and ran into a soon-to-retire statewide officeholder. I said, "you know we're going to miss you"...and "what a mess this election could end up being."
'"I've already voted,"' he said, '"I voted for .."'
Never miss a local story.
"I wouldn't want to break a confidence, not that he asked for it, so let's just say he didn't vote for the guy," Johnson wrote.
So does that mean Ysursa voted for Woodings?
I called Ysursa this afternoon and read him Johnson’s blog. He would not confirm the details of Johnson's post.
“How I voted…Idaho has a secret ballot. I’m not going to get into the endorsement business,” Ysursa said. “I’ve held out this long and I’m not going to change now.”
Ysura did confirm, however, that he has already voted.
