Idaho State Police and the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal crash two miles north of Shelley that involved three cars and claimed the life of Timothy Wight, 42, of Idaho Falls. The accident happened at 10 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 15.
Police say that Christopher Hansen, 21, of Idaho Falls, was northbound on I-15 in a Toyota pickup. When he slowed down due to road conditions, he was hit from behind by Wight who was driving a Toyota Corolla. Wight’s car was then hit by a Lexus driven by Eva Larsen, 35, of Boise.
Wight, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. Both Hansen and Larsen were wearing their seatbelts. Neither was hurt.
The right northbound lane was blocked for approximately three-and-a-half hours while crews worked to clear the scene. Next of kin has been notified.
