Elizabeth begins working as an associate at Harwell Barr Martin & Sloan, a law firm in Nashville, Tenn.

MARCH 22: John and Elizabeth Edwards announce her cancer has returned and is incurable. They plan to continue with the campaign.
JAN. 30: John Edwards suspends his campaign for president.
AUG. 8: John admits to an affair with campaign videographer Rielle Hunter.
MAY: Elizabeth's second book, "Resilience: Reflections on the Burdens and Gifts of Facing Life's Adversities," is published.

JAN. 21: John Edwards admits publicly that he is the father of Rielle Hunter's baby. He and Elizabeth officially separate.
JUNE 29: Updated version of "Resilience" is released. The paperback version adds a chapter on the breakup. Interviews follow, including the "Today" show and "Larry King Live."
JUNE: Elizabeth announces plans to sell the Chapel Hill house.
SEPTEMBER: Elizabeth appears on "The Nate Berkus Show" during the show's premiere week.
