A 20-year-old Marine from Craigmont has died in Iraq, the Department of Defense confirmed on Tuesday.
Pfc. Chris Reed was killed Saturday in a non-combat-related vehicle accident in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, along with three others.
Cpl. Terry Holmes, 22, of Hollywood, Fla., Sgt. Krisna Nachampassak, 27, of Burke, Va., and Staff Sgt. Trevor Spink, 36, of Farmington, Mo., also died in the accident, the department said in a prepared statement.
All were assigned to 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Reed's brother, Brian Reed, told the Lewiston Morning Tribune on Monday that his family was contacted by Marine Corps officials over the weekend.
Reed graduated from Highland High School in Craigmont and was on the school wrestling team.
He is the seventh soldier from Idaho to be killed since the start of the war in Iraq.
Army Pfc. Cleston Raney, 20, of Rupert was the most recent victim before Reed.
Raney and four other soldiers were killed March 31 when a bomb exploded under an armored personnel carrier in Habbaniyah, Iraq.
