Bergdahl case undeserving of a ‘preemptive’ pardon from Obama

In February, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl faces a general court-martial based on two charges: “desertion with intent to shirk important or hazardous duty” and “misbehavior before the enemy by endangering the safety of a command, unit or place.” His attorney has filed a petition seeking a preemptive presidential pardon.

Bennett had little idea that his high school counselor, his neighborhood grocer, his dad’s best friend or his neighbors had served in places like the Philippines, Africa and Wake Island, and on the beaches of Normandy and in German POW camps. When Bennett set out to tell their stories, he learned the stories and sacrifices of one small town in Idaho represented those of every other small town in America.

More than 200 members of the Idaho Air National Guard were welcomed home late Sunday night Oct. 23, 2016 at Gowen Field in Boise. The 124th Fighter Wing was stationed at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey for six months in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

Nampa symposium explores role of Idaho women in the military

The Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa hosts a symposium that will explore the role of women in Idaho’s military. The day-long event, Nov. 12, will include a panel discussion, Q&A with women veterans, the sharing of personal combat stories and an address by keynote speaker Brig. General Wilma Vaught, retired from the U.S. Air Force.
