A new wildfire grew to more than 1,000 acres northeast of Weiser. Structures were initially threatened but were safe as of 10 p.m. Monday. There were no evacuations or injuries, officials said.
The Weiser Fire Department and Forest Service’s combined response included five engines, three dozers and two brush trucks, 11 tankers, a helicopter, a lead plane and an air attack plane to manage aircraft.
