A Mountain Home man was arrested after an on-and-off high speed chase through Garden City and Ada County, according to the Garden City Police Department.
Police responded to a report of a “problem subject” near the intersection of East 43rd and Adams streets Thursday around 4:30 p.m. They tried to initiate a traffic stop for the suspected problem vehicle: a dark blue 1998 Chevrolet Lumina, according to a news release.
But the driver, identified by police as Joshua Wickham, 31, of Mountain Home, sped away from officers at a “high rate of speed,” according to GCPD.
Officers stopped their pursuit so as not to risk the safety of the general public.
Ada County dispatch then informed GCPD that Wickham had abandoned the vehicle near the 5700 block of Glenwood Street. When they got on the scene, police determined the license plates were fake and that the vehicle’s occupants had fled, according to the release.
They found Wickham shortly thereafter and took him into custody. But, police are still looking for the female occupant. She’s described as a white female, in her 20s, 5 feet 3 inches tall, skinny, with strawberry blonde hair and severe acne, according to the release.
Wickham was charged with felony eluding police and two misdemeanor counts: driving without privileges and driving under the influence, according to Ada County jail records.
