Idaho State Police Major Clark Rollins was placed on administrative leave after being arrested and charged with driving under the influence Wednesday, according to an ISP press release.
Meridian police pulled over Rollins Wednesday and charged him with two misdemeanor counts: the DUI and transportation of an alcoholic beverage, according to the release.
Meridian Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea said officers pulled over Rollins because he was going 45 mph in 35 mph zone.
“Our officer also witnessed Rollins taking a drink of a beer while driving,” Basterrechea said.

His blood alcohol level was also above the limit, Basterrechea said.
Details on when Rollins will be arraigned were not yet available in Idaho’s online court records system Thursday afternoon.
Rollins will also face an internal investigation to see if he broke ISP policies.
