Meridian police arrested a suspected shoplifter Monday afternoon after he pulled a knife on a Kohl’s employee, according to a police press release.
The man was hospitalized after jumping into a dumpster and sustaining injuries, initially refusing to identify himself, according to the Meridian Police Department. But he later was identified as 26-year-old Aaron Marc Moritz, of Boise.
The incident took place at Kohl’s on Ustick and Eagle roads. The Ada County Sheriff, Boise and Meridian Police Departments surrounded the area after receiving the call but learned the suspect had escaped in what was thought to be his getaway vehicle.
Authorities later found him in front of a restaurant, where he was arrested. He was booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated assault and burglary.
