Frightened Felons is the always popular annual event that transforms the Old Pen in Boise into a haunted house. Er, a haunted big house, that is.
All kinds of volunteers are needed for Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.
Here's what's required:
1. Attend informational meetings on October 1st and October 22nd.
2. Fill out a volunteer information form. Available online at www.history.idaho.gov
3. Work at least one two-hour shift on October 31st OR November 1st .
Friday October 31st is ADULT NIGHT and you must be 18 years or older to volunteer**. Saturday November 1st is FAMILY NIGHT and you must be 15 years or older to volunteer*. Event times both nights are 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Shifts are 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. to 11 p.m, or a full 7:00 – 11:00 p.m.. Unless otherwise noted.

*Kids 10 & over can volunteer with a parent or guardian as a game attendant or as an inmate actor only. ** Youth 15-17 can volunteer as long as they have written permission from a parent or guardian.
FRIGHTENED FELONS volunteer position descriptions:
Game Attendant – Teach visitors how to play our prison-themed games. Haunted Cell House Team – Scare and creep out visitors in one of six haunted rooms. Also needed are entrance/exit door attendants. Hospitality – Take tickets, greet visitors, ask visitors to fill out evaluations, explain the scavenger hunt, serve as site patrol (enforce site rules, crowd control), etc. Inmate Actors *** – Walk about the site dressed in prison stripes or era-appropriate clothing. Read and research about an actual inmate from the penitentiary’s past and portray them for visitors. You may also be part of our scavenger hunt answering questions for visitors.
*** Inmate Actors will have additional rehearsals in the month of October.
