Idaho Transportation Department crews will conduct pile-driving tests near the Broadway Avenue Bridge by Boise State University Thursday, May 29. Drivers may see crews moving equipment in and preparing the area for the tests.
The pile-driving will be restricted to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The tests will generate vibration and noise comparable to that of a garbage truck. Piles will be mounted to a crane and hammered into the vacant lot next to University Plaza on Broadway Avenue.
Test results will allow ITD to determine the pile-driving method to use when building the new bridge within the next few years. The existing bridge is over 50 years old and needs to be replaced.
