The Canyon County Mosquito Abatement District Friday reported a third mosquito trap that tested positive for West Nile virus.
The trap collected Thursday and tested Friday was located along the Boise River between Middleton and Caldwell, according to a county news release. That area has seen an increase in mosquito numbers and was treated Thursday and Friday evenings. Larvae control measures also were applied over the past week, the county reports.
The previous virus-positive traps were collected last week in the Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge and near the Boise River and Lansing Lane. Followup testing showed no disease activity in those areas, according to the news release.
