The Canyon County Sheriff's Office sent out a news release Thursday seeking more female applicants to join its force.
The CCSO currently has about 20 vacancies and would like to fill some of those positions with women, county spokesman Joe Decker said. There is no specific target number, he said, but the county hopes to create a roster of qualified female candidates. Of 155 deputies now working for Canyon County, 20 are women, Decker said.
Entry-level salary starts at $35,363, plus benefits and potential for promotion, according to the news release. Applications must be received by Dec.30 in order to be eligible for testing in early to mid-January. Not all of the vacancies can be filled at one time, Decker said.
For information on how to apply for either the female-only deputy roster or the open deputy roster, go to the Canyon County Human Resources website or call 208-454-6610.
