Two Caldwell men were injured and the highway was closed for five and a half hours after a two-vehicle crash on Idaho 19 Thursday evening, Idaho State Police report.
Jonathan Ruiz-Sanchez, 18, of Caldwell was driving a 1986 Freightliner south on Notus Road and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection on Idaho 19, ISP reports. Luke Durflinger, 35, of Caldwell was headed west on 19 in a 1982 commercial Ford truck hauling onions and struck the Freightliner, police said.
Durflinger’s truck overturned and the load of onions blocked the highway, police said.
Durflinger and Ruiz-Sanchez were both taken to a local hospital. Neither man had been wearing a seat belt, ISP said.
