Amparo Godinez Sanchez, 39, died after being shot Thursday night in the Wilder home she shared with husband Erasmo Diaz, the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
Diaz, 51, is accused of killing his wife, then fleeing . He is believed to be dangerous, armed with a handgun. He left his car across the state line in Adrian, Ore., and law enforcement is still looking for him, according to the sheriff’s office.
Sanchez’s name, initially withheld at the family’s request, was released Monday. Her family is offering a $10,000 reward for Diaz’s capture.
The number of tips in the case increased since the reward was announced Sunday, CCSO Lt. Chris McCormick said Monday, and the intensive investigation is continuing.
“We can’t really comment on where we believe Diaz is right now,” McCormick said.
Sanchez was already critically wounded by the time deputies arrived on scene at Red Top Road around 11:10 p.m. Thursday. Emergency personnel tried to save her, but she died, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators are looking for help from the community in finding Diaz, and also said that people who hide or help him will face prosecution. People with information are urged to call Crimestoppers at 343-COPS, according to the sheriff’s office.
