A baby elephant shrew, born to one of Zoo Boise’s animals March 5, is starting to poke its head out of the nest, according to a zoo press release.
The zoo also announced a new baby wallaby, born last summer. The baby wallaby is still spending most of its time in its mother’s pouch, but she’s started venturing out. The female joey was born to parents Kaiya and Bondi, according to the release.
The elephant shrew (also known as a sengi) is a small African mammal about the size of a rat. The baby shrew (its gender is still unknown) was born to parents Polaris and Havok.
