Two boys and one girl were the first-born babies at three Treasure Valley hospitals in 2016.
Cole Bates, son of Stephanie and J Bates of Star, was born at St. Luke’s Meridian at 12:21 a.m.
Although the Bates’ due date was Dec. 31, Stephanie Bates didn’t think they would have a baby on New Year’s Day even though her husband J predicted it months ago.
“We’re just charmed that way,” he said. “Everything just always works out how it is meant to be.”
Never miss a local story.
Babies born on Jan. 1 at any Treasure Valley St. Luke’s location received a St. Luke’s onesie and receiving blanket.
Gabriel, son of Andrea Colglazier and Jason Fullerton of Caldwell, was born at 1:24 a.m. at West Valley Medical Center.
Gabriel is the couple’s first child. The family received a gift basket, flowers and balloons provided by the West Valley Volunteer Auxiliary.
Hazel Liliana Ray Petersen was born at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise at 6:19 a.m. She was born to Sarah and Nathan Petersen of Boise. This is their first child.
Saint Alphonsus presented the family with a basket filled with baby clothes, diapers, and other items parents of newborns need and enjoy.
