The place to be this Fourth of July is Ann Morrison Park, which will be bustling with events, art and fireworks.
The 6th annual Chalk Art Festival will host local artists creating chalk masterpieces in real time.
The city of Boise will also host a children's bike parade and decorating contest, live entertainment, food vendors and a fireworks show at the park.
Those who want to get even closer to the events and help make them better can volunteer for a few hours. Volunteers get to host booths, maintain park safety, assist with registration, or help in event put-up and take-down.
Never miss a local story.
The Idaho Statesman is also looking for artists to register for section of sidewalk to fill with chalk art.
Enthusiastic volunteers can sign up for events through the Idaho Statesman or city of Boise. The festival takes place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 4. Chalk artists can preregister: $10 for ages 12 to 17, $15 for 18 and older and $20 for teams of two to four.
