A power outage that affected nearly 330 Idaho Power customers in Downtown Boise Friday morning was caused by a goose, according to Idaho Power.
The outage was called in at about 8:30 a.m. and resolved within 30 minutes. A goose flew into a Downtown power line, which triggered an automatic shutoff, according to Idaho Power.
"That's a common cause in the lines in that area," said Kevin Winslow, Idaho Power communications specialist.
A two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Front Street and Capitol Boulevard occurred during the outage that was caused in part by the power outage, Boise Police spokesman Ryan Larrondo said.
"Because the lights weren't going, a driver couldn't see whether the light was green or not, and that's what caused the crash," Larrondo said.
