A planned burn will scorch about 300 acres of land near Bogus Basin Ski Resort Wednesday.
Inclement weather pushed back the schedule for Boise National Forest's prescribed burn. It was originally scheduled for last week.
The goal of the project is to burn open patches of ground near tree wells in the areas around parking lots and Nordic trails. This should reduce wildfire threats by taking out fuel like pine needles, brush and small branches, according to a press release from Boise National Forest.
The burn was scheduled around weather that would disperse smoke, so it should have minimal impact.
The area has already undergone some wildfire-prevention measures in 2014. The forest was thinned, and branches and small trees were piled and burned.
The fire is scheduled to burn 12 to 5 p.m. through Friday.
