A 61-year-old Boise man who was reported missing last month has been found dead in his car in circumstances police call suspicious.
Mark Irwin was positively identified by forensic testing, the Ada County coroner announced Thursday afternoon, moments before Boise police sent out a news release asking the public for information about Irwin's disappearance.
A police spokeswoman would not say when the body was found or where in the Foothills the car was located. But the coroner's office listed Aug. 26 as the date the body, as yet unidentified, was pronounced dead, and said the car was found near Ada County's boundary with Boise County.
Police stressed that the investigation is continuing, and both police and the coroner's office said no additional information is expected to be released this week.

Irwin, listed in the Idaho State Police Missing Persons Clearinghouse, had been missing since the first week of August. His silver Toyota van also was reported missing.
Anyone with information about Irwin's disappearance or death is asked to call Ada County dispatch at 377-6790 or, if in another county, any local law enforcement. Tipsters who want to remain anonymous can call 343-COPS or go to the Crime Stoppers website.
