The Idaho State Historical Museum will welcome visitors to its new and expanded home next year after its major remodel. But the staff, state officials and history lovers will meet for a groundbreaking ceremony and blessing of the land at the Idaho State Historical Museum in Julia Davis Park on Wednesday, June 22 at 12:30 p.m.
The ceremony will include remarks from Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter, Idaho Tribal Leaders, and other dignitaries. The State Historical Museum began its expansion and wall to wall renovation project in August of 2014 and anticipates reopening to the public in December of 2017.
First Lady Lori Otter; Sen. Todd Lakey, Lindsey Manning the tribal chairman for the Shoshone-Paiute and Mary Jane Miles, tribal chairman for the Nez Perce are also expected to attend. The public is welcome.
