Family members, co-workers and friends of Amparo Godinez Sanchez gathered Saturday in Caldwell to release balloons in honor of the Wilder woman.
Godinez, 39, was shot to death at her home on June 10, 2015. She was a victim of domestic violence, symbolized by the purple balloons. Her husband, who fled the scene and has not been seen since, is charged in her murder.
"This year has been the toughest of my life," said her daughter Judy Diaz, 22. "We miss her very much. She never have up on her kids and that's why I have to fight to help other victims of domestic abuse.”
