What’s ‘The Grinder’? A new half-hour sitcom set in Boise that stars Rob Lowe as Dean Sanderson, an actor who returns to his hometown of Boise after his successful TV legal drama “ The Grinder” ends its eight-year run. He decides to help his family’s law firm despite not having a law degree. His dad Dean Sr. (William Devane) heads the firm, which includes his younger brother Stewart (Fred Savage), who is at constant odds with Dean Jr.
Why Boise? Creators Jake Kasdan, Andrew Mogel, Jarrad Paul and Nicholas Stoller wanted a fresh location that was far away from the Hollywood vibe as possible. Boise is it.
Did they come to Boise? Savage did. He spent several days here in August, checking out the local culture and doing research for his character Stewart, who is a lawyer and a dad. He even met with Mayor Dave Bieter and took home some Boise swag, so look for in later episodes (maybe). The pilot that airs on Sept. 29 was shot before Savage’s visit.
Never miss a local story.
When can you watch it? “The Grinder” is on at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 29 on Fox.
