The Ada County Coroner's Office Monday released the identity of a man killed in a head-on crash near the intersection of state highways 16 and 44 in Star on Saturday afternoon.
Thomas Allsopp, 56, of Middleton died of blunt force trauma, the coroner's office reports.
The Ada County Sheriff's Office reported Allsopp's Dodge Charger drifted across the center line and collided head-on with a pickup truck. He died at the scene.
The 72-year-old driver of the pickup, whose name has not been released, was injured and taken to a local hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening. The crash is still under investigation.
Idaho 44 was closed for several hours in both directions Saturday afternoon while crews cleaned up the wreckage and deputies investigated.
The crash is still under investigation, and deputies are working to determine if Allsopp fell asleep immediately before the crash, ACSO reports.
