Idaho Statesman photographers won three awards in the 2015 Associated Press Northwest photo competition among AP-member newspapers in Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Alaska.
Darin Oswald won first place for sports photo, and Kyle Green won second place in two categories, metro multiple-photo story and sports.
Oswald’s photo, “Cross Country,” showed cross country athletes running around the Idaho Air National Guard F-89B Scorpion memorial in Nampa’s Lakeview Park during the Gary Ward Invitational last October.
Green’s second-place multiple-photo story, “Finish Line,” showed a series of collapsing runners at the finish line of the Girls 5A state cross country championships last November at Eagle Island State Park. Green wrote an Idaho Moment story detailing the circumstances surrounding this series of pictures. It can be found here : http://www.idahostatesman.com/2014/11/09/3476784/they-hold-nothing-back.html
Never miss a local story.
Green’s second-place sports photo, “Foul,” showed Montana men’s basketball player Jermaine Edmonds Jr. going heels over head while defending a shot by Boise State’s Igor Hadziomerovic during the Broncos’ 72-67 victory last November at Taco Bell Arena.
The winners were announced last week at the annual meeting of the Pacific Northwest Newspaper Association in Seattle.
