Wilbur F. Fawcett, 63, of McCall died Monday when his motorcycle crashed east of Government Camp in the Mount Hood area, Oregon State Police reported Wednesday.
The crash happened shortly after 5 p.m. on Highway 26 when Fawcett lost control of his motorcycle and hit a guardrail. Fawcett was found unresponsive on the roadway; his motorcycle was found about 500 feet from where it hit the rail, OSP reports.
Fawcett was declared dead on scene by emergency personnel. The highway was partially closed for several hours while troopers investigated.
Excessive speed appears to have contributed to the crash, OSP said in a news release. No other vehicles were reportedly involved.
