A recent Boise police investigation of 91 local bars, restaurants and stores for compliance with laws regulating alcohol resulted in 20 citations, police said in a release Tuesday.
The breakdown of citations was:
• Nine adults who purchased alcohol for minors.
• Seven store employees who sold to minors.
• Three minors who had possession of alcohol.
• One adult for having an open container of alcohol.
Those who provide alcohol to minors face fines of $500 to $1,000 and up to one year in jail. Businesses who sell to minors face a 10-day license suspension or $1,000 fine for the first offense, and penalties increase with additional offenses.
Police say the public can help reduce alcohol-related traffic accidents, injuries and deaths.
