The Discovery Center of Idaho will close intermittently over the next month to build the new Micron Innovation Lab inside the center.
The first closure is Oct. 16-22. One gallery will reopen on Oct.23 with the “Fizzology” exhibit. That will be the only gallery available for viewing until Nov. 14 when DCI will again close.
The hands-on science center will reopen Nov 22 to unveil the new lab and “SuperStruct: Some Assembly Required” a new exhibit built by DCI exhibit director Eric Miller and his team.
The Micron Innovation Lab supports STEM education. It will focus on the process of building exhibits, and allow the staff to create more intricate and interesting exhibits in house. The construction will renovate DCI’s workshops where staff and volunteers build the center’s exhibits. And you’ll be able to watch them work through an observation area.
The Micron Foundation’s $300,000 gift is the largest private donation in the center’s 25-year history.
